Top 7 Tips to Get the Most from ROCCAT Talk
-
Update firmware & software
- Keep ROCCAT Talk and your headset firmware current via ROCCAT Swarm or the official updater to get performance, compatibility, and bug fixes.
-
Optimize mic position
- Place the mic 1–2 cm from your mouth at a slight angle to reduce plosives and capture clear voice levels without clipping.
-
Use noise suppression
- Enable built-in noise suppression or background noise removal (software or hardware) to eliminate room noise, fans, or keyboard sounds.
-
Adjust gain and input levels
- Set input gain so normal speech peaks around -6 dB to -3 dB in your recording/mixer app. Lower gain if there’s clipping; raise it if voice is too quiet.
-
Enable sidetone and monitor
- Turn on sidetone to hear your own voice at a comfortable level. Use real-time monitoring to avoid speaking too loudly and to detect issues immediately.
-
Choose the right sample rate & codec
- For voice chat, 48 kHz / 16-bit or the recommended default provides clear quality with low CPU usage. Use high-quality codecs only if supported by your platform.
-
Tweak EQ and voice effects sparingly
- Apply minimal EQ to boost vocal presence (around 1–4 kHz) if needed. Avoid heavy effects that make speech unnatural; prefer subtle warmth or clarity presets.
Quick checklist to run through before sessions:
- Firmware/software updated
- Mic positioned 1–2 cm from mouth
- Noise suppression enabled
- Input gain peaking near -6 dB
- Sidetone enabled
